As web applications used to manage confidential transactions and sensitive information increasingly come under attack, the need to put in place reliable safeguards is critical. In fact, for organizations collecting and storing credit card numbers, it will become a requirement. The Payment Card Initiative (PCI) Data Security Standard will require that all custom application code be reviewed by an organization that specializes in application security or install a web application firewall by June 2008.
