Leading Independent Research Group Cites Breach Security as a Stronger Performer in its Web Application Firewalls Q2/06 Report

BreachGate WebDefend is the Only Out-of-Line Appliance Tested; Scores Best Attack Detection Score of All Products Evaluated

CARLSBAD, Calif., June 27, 2006 –Breach Security, a leading provider of web application security technology that protects privileged information from targeted Internet attacks, today announced that it was among a select group of companies Forrester invited to participate in its The Forrester Wave™: Web Application Firewalls, Q2 2006, Forrester Research, Inc., June 2006 report. In this evaluation, Breach Security scored the best attack detection scores of all the products evaluated earning the company a “strong performer” distinction in the report

This new Forrester Wave report evaluated products from leading Web application firewall vendors across 101 criteria. The report notes that as web applications have become business-critical enablers, attackers are targeting these applications to access sensitive and valuable information and web application firewalls, like WebDefend, provide an important defense against these threats.

Specifically, Forrester reports that Breach Security’s BreachGate WebDefend was the only completely out-of-line Web application firewall they tested. WebDefend’s non-intrusive deployment allows for simple and quick installations. Forrester noted that the WebDefend also has no impact on network and application performance or traffic, along with a “very good user interface” and strong logging and reporting capabilities. Two areas that the report indicated WebDefend needed to improve, namely attack prevention and role management, are solved in the next versions of WebDefend.

“Breach Security’s strong attack detection, combined with its ease of installation and management, make its product a good choice for organizations with little Web application security experience.” wrote Forrester analysts.

“The Forrester Wave report is heavily skewed towards inline solutions for Web application security,” said Marc Shinbrood, president and CEO, Breach Security. “While the Forrester report favors attributes of inline solutions that negatively impact network performance, WebDefend was intentionally designed to deploy non-intrusively and avoid introducing latency or becoming a single point of failure. We are delighted that Forrester has awarded the BreachGate WebDefend with the best attack detection score of all the products evaluated.”
