Partnership builds on SOA need for comprehensive Web Services Management
Washington, D.C. (CSI Conference) — November 14, 2005 – Breach Security, Inc., a provider of next generation Web application security, today announced it is extending the ability of its BreachGate WebDefend™, the next generation Web application security solution that protects privileged information against cyber attacks, through an OEM relationship with Forum System that provides customers protection against attacks that explicitly target XML communications.
Immediately available, the WebDefend and Forum XWALL™ offering enables enterprises to prevent the propagation of viruses that easily travel within XML messages, as well as block malicious application-to-application behavior that can only be recognized by parsing, inspecting and securing SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) messages.
The extension of WebDefend’s functionality with Forum’s XWALL, as well as other vendor partnerships, enables Breach to anticipate and meet customer needs for comprehensive Web security. For example, according to recent research from Andrew Jacquith, Senior Analyst at Yankee Group, companies will be looking to application security gateways for broader coverage of the entire application stack to include Web Services, Web Servers, Databases, etc.
Scott Crawford, Senior Security Analyst & CISSP, Enterprise Management Associates said, “Web Services are increasingly becoming a primary focus of application deployment, but the integration risks are potentially significant — considering we don’t really yet know what the actual threats could be. Therefore, an application security management platform is needed to provide adequate visibility into known risks and threats that have yet to emerge so appropriate measures can be taken.” Enterprise IT departments can easily initiate the WebDefend, XWALL solution by ‘turning on’ XWALL functionality in the single, non-intrusive WebDefend appliance.
BreachGate WebDefend is a Web application security solution that protects privileged information from targeted cyber attacks such as identity theft, information leakage, loss of trade secrets and intellectual property. Forum XWall is the first and only embeddable XML Firewall with XIP™ (XML Intrusion Prevention), WS-I Profile conformance, XML Schema Restriction, WSDL Access Control and XML Antivirus (XAV™). Forum XWall ensures service-oriented applications are appropriately accessible and continuously available by allowing network administrators to enforce perimeter policies that check the integrity of data and control access to exposed enterprise Web services.
“We are happy to be working with Forum Systems, a true innovator in Web security, to extend BreachGate WebDefend’s ability to protect against viruses in XML,” said Marc Shinbrood, CEO of Breach Security. “With XWALL, Breach is combining two best of breed technologies to offer IT the ultimate in Web protection and services.”
“Forum is pleased to augment Breach Security’s behavior-based, distributed application security technology with the industry’s only truly embeddable XML firewall,” said Wes Swenson, president and CEO, Forum Systems. “This partnership furthers the industry adoption of XWall as the most widely used technology to enable secure application-oriented networks.”
Pricing & Availability
BreachGate WebDefend with XWALL is available through Breach Security with pricing starting at $30,000 U.S. Current WebDefend customers can purchase the Forum XWALL upgrade starting at $10,000 U.S.
