Linux IDS sensors, Appliance Version, Internet Security Systems and Snort Support, Secure Partner Program Top List of New Offerings
CARLSBAD, Calif. – Jan. 25, 2005 – Breach Security Inc., an emerging leader in deployable application security solutions, announced today a slate of new and improved offerings related to its BreachView SSL™ product line. BreachView SSL is the industry’s first add-on SSL decryption enhancement for existing intrusion detection and prevention systems. It decrypts SSL traffic on the fly without terminating the SSL session and delivers the decrypted traffic contents in clear text to the IDS sensor, eliminating the blind spot in most IDSs.
Windows or Linux; Software Plug-in or Appliance
BreachView SSL is now available as a software plug-in for Linux IDS or IPS products in addition to the previously announced Windows version. Organizations can also deploy BreachView SSL as a stand alone appliance which can be deployed in conjunction with any IDS sensor. The appliance dramatically reduces deployment costs and allows integration in unusual network configurations.
“The law of unintended consequences is often most driven by customers, who use your products in creative ways that you had never expected,” said John Payne, chief executive officer of Breach Security. “BreachView SSL as an appliance is such a flexible and easily integrated product that our early users have deployed it in many uses beyond the simple enhancement of their IDS and IPS.”
Support for Leading Intrusion Detection Systems
In addition, BreachView SSL for Linux offers support for Snort open source Intrusion Detection Systems. Snort has been in use since 1998 and is the single most widely deployed IDS in the world. BreachView SSL for Linux integrated with Snort permits users to apply the thousands of Snort signatures to SSL traffic, which previously was not monitored.
BreachView also offers direct support for Internet Security Systems’ RealSecure Network Sensor 7.0 and Proventia intrusion detection appliance, the market-leading intrusion detection systems, according to research firm IDC.
“SSL traffic has always been an inconspicuous spot on the network with regard to detecting malicious activity. It has become an increasing factor the past few years as traffic has grown, particularly with the impact of new regulatory requirements of federal and state privacy initiatives,” said Thomas Watson, senior security architect, North America IS Security for Bayer Corp. “The BreachView SSL plug-in for IDS systems would significantly enhance products like ISS, Dragon, Snort, Sourcefire and others, allowing the IDS to see attack signatures and anomalies in SSL traffic for the first time.”
Launch of Breach Secure Partner Program
Breach has also expanded its Secure Partner Program to provide direct support for ISS, Snort and Sourcefire value-added resellers and security consultants. IDS/IPS vendors can also join Breach’s OEM licensing program, designed to allow companies to embed BreachView SSL functionality directly into core products rapidly and with solid engineering support.

Pricing for the BreachView SSL software plug-in starts at $4,995 and the BreachView SSL appliance is priced at $9,995.
